There are many baseball stories that have been heard, but this is
“A Baseball Story Never Told”

In 1994 as the MLB Strike dragged on into September and the World Series was cancelled September 14,1994 (the second time in history) NY Yankees Hall of Fame Legend Yogi Berra, holder of 10 World Series Rings (Most of any MLB Player) author and catcher for the Famed Mastercard MLB All Century Team, NY Yankees Hall of Fame Pitching Legend Whitey Ford known as “The Chairman of the Board”, winner of 10 World Series Victories (more than any other pitcher) owner of 6 World Series Rings and Phil “Scooter” Rizzuto (voted as the greatest NY Yankees shortstop over Derek Jeter) holder of 8 World Series Rings and the broadcasting voice for radio and television of NY Yankees Games for 40 years, traveled to Vienna, Austria September 13-18, 1994 to play in an exhibition baseball game known as the Austrian Cup and promote America’s Pastime. They were America’s Ambassadors for the game and “The Shining Light in the Darkest Days of Baseball”.

The days before the game these NY Yankees legends visited the Mayor of Vienna, signing autographs on baseball bats and Yankees away game jerseys that they presented to the Mayor. They visited the Vienna Boys Choir and were given a private concert. After the concert they joked around, signed bats, balls and autographs on Phil “Scooter” Rizzuto’s “Holy Cow” 1994 Hall of Fame induction t-shirts for each kid. They coached the kids on how to play American baseball. Yogi hit balls to the kids and fielded, Phil fielded and gave bunting lessons and Whitey Ford said let’s teach them how to sing “Take Me Out to The Ballgame”. The NY Yankees Legends sang it to them once and then they all sang it a second time together with the kids. These NY Yankees Legends traveled on and visited several castles and joked around on every occasion with their Good Old Brand of NY Yankees humor. Phil pretended to be stretched on a medievel rack in a medievel castle while sceaming out “Holy Cow”! Yogi strolled through the Castle playfully mugging for the camera. You’ve never seen them do anything like it before.

September 18, 1994 they played the Austrian Cup exhibition game, which is the last time any of them ever played ball again. They all hit, fielded, won the game and gave the Cup to the Austrian Baseball Players. There is a never before heard and the most heartfelt recording of the National Anthem sung solo by Phil Rizzuto, voice of the NY Yankees for 40 years.

The movie and book “A Baseball Story Never Told” is produced from 6.5 hours of never ever before seen footage, mastered on broadcast videotape, until now. It is a never before told or heard, historical account about three of the greatest NY Yankees to ever wear the Pinstripes. The story will be in the NY Times and NYTimes.com
